Know what is being injected and why

Dermal fillers are injected materials used to alter volume or contours in selected areas. They differ from botulinum toxin, which affects muscle activity. Different fillers have different properties and duration; not every material is suitable for every area or easy to remove.

Ask for the product name, material, planned amount and injection locations before consenting. Explain previous fillers or other procedures, even if they were done elsewhere years ago. Bring records when possible. Tell the doctor about allergies, bleeding conditions and medicines.

Discuss uncommon but serious risks explicitly

Swelling, bruising and tenderness can occur. Infection, lumps and delayed reactions are also possible. Accidental injection into a blood vessel can damage tissue and may cause blindness or stroke. The FDA advises choosing a licensed clinician experienced in facial anatomy and managing complications.

Ask how the clinic recognizes and responds to a vascular complication, and where emergency care is available. Sudden vision changes, severe unusual pain or concerning skin color changes after injection require urgent medical assessment. Do not wait for an online message or a scheduled cosmetic review if a serious complication is suspected.

Make the decision before the syringe is opened

A useful consultation should allow you to decline, reduce the proposed treatment or return another day. Ask why a filler is more appropriate than doing nothing or addressing a different cause of the concern. Do not let an offer tied to a larger syringe quantity determine your goal.

For a Seoul visit, request the treatment date, product and batch details, injection sites and treating clinician’s name for your records. Confirm the review arrangements before traveling onward. Ask what the price includes if you need assessment of a problem. A good result in someone else’s photographs cannot establish your own suitability or eliminate risk.
